Hildegard Schrette
Hildegard “Hildie” Schrette passed from this earth to her loved ones in Heaven on Feb. 15, 2012. She began her journey to Heaven after a long, courageous battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Born in San Francisco on June 13, 1933, she was the only child of Henry and Hildegard Duser of Germany. Hildie was the first generation of her family in the United States. She moved to Napa at the age of 5.
Over the years, she acquired a large circle of friends through school and clubs. They have been a wonderful support to her over the years. Hildie was involved in many clubs such as Entre Nous, Junior Women New Century Club (secretary), Napa Ski Club, Republican Women, Napa Yacht Club Women’s Alliance Group, Book Club, Bible Study, Bridge Clubs, Napa Valley Country Club, Napa High School Class of ’51 Alumni, and the “Gourmet Group,” still meeting after more than 40 years.
After raising her two children, she began her second career as an insurance agent. Her ability to understand the needs of seniors made her a natural at helping make decisions regarding senior health insurance needs. She had a long, prosperous and respected career.
Hildie enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband Corky in their motor home around the U.S. and visiting numerous countries abroad. She traveled by ship at age 5 with her parents to visit relatives in Germany.
Most of all, she loved being with her family and sharing her love and family values with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Corky, and parents, Henry and Hildegard Duser. She leaves behind two children, her daughter, Kristi and husband, Mark Cordoza; and son, Thomas Schrette and wife, Liz; as well as six grandchildren, Kati Cordoza Mandeville (Paul), Halie Cordoza Simonds (Brandon), Bonnie Cordoza (Dan), Kelsie, T.J. and Jack Schrette; three great-grandchildren; cousin, John Duser and family; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at 1 p.m., at Tulocay Funeral Chapel, 411 Coombsville Road, Napa, CA 94559. Messages in Hildie’s memory may be left for the family at tulocaycemetery.org
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Napa Valley College Foundation (Corky and Hildie Schrette family scholarship fund), 2277 Napa-Vallejo Highway, Napa, CA 94558; or to the charity of one’s choice.
