Annabelle Mieth

1931-2013

Verna Annabelle Mieth, 81, of Napa, died April 27, 2013, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 29, 1931, in the Granatelli Maternity Home in Napa, the daughter of the late Andrew Oscar and Verna Beatrice Bacigalupi Lundquist. She attended Napa schools, the Santa Rosa Junior College School of Nursing, and Napa Valley Community College.

She married George Everett in 1950, and the couple had four children: David, Elaine, Nancy, and Erica.

She was a homemaker and also worked as a Home Health Care Giver. In 1979, she was married to O.L. Franklin, with whom she enjoyed 12 years of love and devotion before his passing in 1991.

Annabelle was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Napa, where she served as the church wedding hostess, and also as an instructor of adult classes — including Stephen Ministries and one titled “Experiment in Practical Christianity.”

She served nine years on the Bay View District Team of United Methodist Women, including four as president; and had been president of Church Women United in Napa Valley. Annabelle held a life membership in the Napa Valley Historical Society, was a docent for the Vintage Hall Museum, and was a charter member of Women of the Moose # 945. She enjoyed gardening, reading, travel, crochet, music and poetry; and was also president of the “49er Gals” for eight years.

In her later years, Annabelle continued to work as a caregiver. In 1992, she met Charles Mieth.

In each other they found wonderful companionship and decided to marry the next year. She was a charter member of the Widowed Persons Association of California and truly enjoyed the company of this group of caring people.

Annabelle was preceded in death by her son, David Allen Everett, who died in infancy; three husbands; and by her, sister Arlene Steinkamp. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine L. Everett and Nancy Ellen Peters, both of Napa, and Erica Lee Everett of Vallejo, Calif.; her beloved sister, Dianne Mummert of Fremont, Calif.; grandchildren, Christopher N. Huff, Mark Thibaut, Samantha Wyndham, Hector Arias-Everett, Arsellia Martinez, and twins, Dante and Teya Everett; and two great-grandchildren, Carly Wyndham and Aiden Ray Rutledge.

A service to celebrate Annabelle’s life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, May 4, at Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel, 623 Coombs St. in Napa, with the Rev. Lee Neish, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. As she requested, private committal at sea will be at a later date near the Golden Gate in the San Francisco Bay.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 625 Randolph St., Napa, CA 94559.
