Albert Carpignano
Albert Carpignano, 82, passed away at his home from a heart attack on Aug. 28, 2006. He was born in Stockton to Evasio and Adelina Carpignano on Dec. 29, 1923. The family moved to Napa in 1930, when Albert was 6 years old.
He attended Lincoln Grammar School, Intermediate School and he graduated from Napa Union High School in 1942. During high school, he was active in sports. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Trathen, a destroyer in the Pacific during World War II. After he was discharged from the Navy, he went to work for PG&E and retired in 1983 after 38 years. After retirement, Albert stayed very active with his family, friends and rental and vineyard businesses.
Albert was a member of the Napa Elks Lodge, Native Sons of the Golden West #62, Napa Sons of Italy, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Napa Moose Lodge, Sons in Retirement and the Napa Valley Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Caroline Jessiman Carpignano; his two daughters, Jane Carpignano and Patricia Carpignano; two brothers-in-law, Neil and William Jessiman; and his two grandsons, David and Jackson Pieterse, all of Napa. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Aurora Dal Ben and Norma Rose.
A private funeral service was held at Tulocay Cemetery under the direction of the Claffey and Rota Funeral Home.
