HOUSTON, Texas - Christopher Allen Walter, 42, died at the Houston Hospice on Tuesday, Nov. 22, following his heroic battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Chris was born on Oct. 4, 1969, in Goshen, Ind., to Daniel and Judith Walter. He attended NorthWood High School from 1984 to 1986 and graduated from Goshen High School in 1988. In June of 2004, Chris fulfilled one of his life's goals when he graduated from ITT Tech in Houston, Texas, with an associate degree of applied science in computer network systems - computers being one of his passions in life. Chris was the valedictorian of his graduating class.
Prior to his diagnosis in April 2011 of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Chris was working in his field as a computer technician and operated his own business, Verge Technical Solutions, which specialized in computer data storage. He had also been working part-time in the field of his second love, restaurant management, as a shift manager at the Baytown Pizza Hut. Prior to moving to Texas, Chris had spent seven years in various management positions in several Pizza Hut locations in Northern Indiana.
Chris is survived by his parents, Daniel and Judith (Bushong) Walter; his siblings, Dar Moon, Greg (Shirley) Walter, Gina Howard, Valerie (Dallas) Haney, and Henry (Debbie) Walter; his partner, Lee Kerr; his maternal grandmother, Verna Bushong; and his treasured chihuahuas, Molly and Allie. He is further survived by all his beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his infant sister, Paulette Jean, and his maternal grandfather, Paul Bushong.
