When I first saw Mark, I thought he was rather plain. As I got to know him, he became cuter and cuter!

Don't judge a book by its cover.

My memories of Mark are more in grammer school. Playing little leauge baseball. I believe he was on the Giants. One of the great childhood buddies.

I always liked Mark, but he was the last person in the World I would have thought would make millions in the cookie business! I saw many DHS 70 grads at his memorial service at Andrew Price Methodist Church a few years back (can you believe it? TEN years ago!). Amazing Grace on the bagpipes brought tears to my wife's eyes, but she didn't know Mark. I did, and although I had to wipe away a few tears of my own, I also had to chuckle. I knew what he was up to! I think he requested that number just for us DHS buddies!

Mark was one of the guys. I'll always remember the pick up baseball and football games in the open field between Lakeland and Twinlawn. Man what fun. There were alot of us guys that lived in that neighborhood. Bevans, Gill, Johnstone, Robinson, William, Watson, Vantrease(Stegal, Stevens, Teasley, Bomar not in our class) this list could go on and one. The only thing for sure is that Mark was a friend to us all.

When I think of Mark it brings back special memories to our neighborhood, we were all like a big family growing up together; all of the Gill boys, the Bevans, Bryson's, Adwells, Urrutia's, Wilson's, Steve Williams, Clariday's,Johnstone's, Vanatta's, Elliot's and I know I have left several out that lived within the area of Hickman school. From playing hide and "go seek" to cowboys & Indians, baseball, basketball, football but Mark had a passion for fishing and I remember my Mom taking my Brother Dennis, Mark and David Bryson to the river fishing many times. I will never forget the the dead snake they pushed under my bedroom door as you could hear my screams throughout Donelson! LOL..Mark you were a great friend and will always be remembered fondly. May you Rest In Peace..

I just ran in to one of Mark's brothers at a recent funeral. We laughed about my favorite memory of Mark. We were in class in the old room at DHS where they had team teaching. The room was large and Mark and I sat in the very back. Mark one day passed gas rather loudly which only echoed in the large room. We both buried our head in our desk trying to suppress the laughter. When I finally looked up everyone in the room was looking at me. When I looked over at Mark he was pointing at me as being the culprit. Just one of many laughs and fond memories I have of Mark. God rest his soul.

Comming from hermitage to Donelson was a little bit intimidating. W.A. Wright would write me from Carson Newman to tell me to quit worring about it. Mark was one of the first friends i made. I saw him at the twenty year reunion and glad I did.

I know, Kenny. I know. Hurts to see one of us enter the final adventure before us.

Mark was a really nice guy who lived over near John Robinson and Bill Bevans. We were never close. I do remember travelling to St. Louis back in the mid 80's and stopping at Baskin Robbins. Sitting there minding my own business and the owner of the store, Mark Gill, walked out and sat down with me. We had a great visit and spent some time catching up. He worked hard and loved his family. I have seen his older brother Bruce a few times over the years. Mark is missed by many.
