Services for John Thomas Adams, Jr., 71, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at Mansfield Road Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA with Masonic Rites.  Officiating will be Rev. Donnie Bradley.  Interment will be at the Northwest Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA, with Honor Guard services.  Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, Shreveport, LA  on Thursday, March 10, 2016.

John was born in Shreveport, LA to John Thomas Adams, Sr., and Geneva Isabella Holland Adams on March 14, 1944 and passed away on March 6, 2016 in Bossier City, LA.  He served in the United States Army from June 9, 1962-July 31, 1985, he was a veteran of Foreign Wars of which he served in Viet Nam from 1971-1972, and after retiring from the military he became a life member of the VFW, John became Past Jr. Vice Commander for Post #2238, then became Past Coammander of District 12, he was a member of the VFW Honor Guard, a member of the Military Order of the Cootier Pup Tent #6. John retired from the Caddo Sheriff's office.  He was a past Master Mason, Fair Park Lodge #436, Greenwood Lodge #409, The Knights Templar, Red Cross of Constantine, York Rite Royal Arch Masons, El Karubah Shriners, past patron of the order of Eastern Star of Fair Park Chapter #18.  He was very active with his son, John, in the Boy Scouts of America Troop #151 where he assisted in advancing the boys to Eagle Scouts.

Preceding John in death are his parents; and brother, George David Adams.  Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 years, Martha L. Adams; Sons, Thomas Cecil and wife Amy, John D. Adams and wife Kalee; daughters, Nancy Adams, Linda Edwards and husband Eric, Jennifer Gewalt and husband Jimmy; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Adams and wife Kathie, Milton Adams and wife Sheli. 

Honoring John as pallbearers will be Buddy Herring, Mark Herring, Dustin Groce, Blake Robertson, John Jones, Mike Lofton, alternates Ryan Ware, and Thomas Marlar.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2238.

  In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 3100 Samford Avenue, Shreveport, LA  71103.
