John Francis “Jackie” Chopin
(November 12, 1945 – September 29, 1962)
Funeral services for John Francis “Jackie” Chopin, 16, were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception with Msgr. S. J. DeKeuwer officiating. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard’s Funeral Home. A Requiem High Mass was offered for him Monday at 11:30 a.m.
The youth died at the local hospital Saturday, Sept. 29 from injuries received in a three-car collision Friday at 11 p.m.
Jackie, as he was fondly called, was born and reared in Natchitoches. He received his early education at St. Mary’s School and was a senior at Natchitoches High School.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Matthew Chopin of Natchitoches, his father, Matthew Chopin of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Matthew Hanlon Chopin of Dayton, Ohio, and Edward Joseph “Timmy” Chopin of Natchitoches; one sister, Mrs. James C. Finley of Ruston; and his grandmother, Mrs. Annie R. Hanlon of New Orleans.
Pallbearers were Joe Gimbert, Carey Blanchard, III, John Emmett Prudhomme, Leslie Prudhomme, Jr., Mark Torgrimson, Larry Bucknum, Chuck Thomas, and John Broussard.
