Lull Henry Hankins, III

Born: December 06, 1950
Died: September 03, 2009

Mr. Lull Henry Hankins, III, 58 passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009, at his home after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4th, at Osborn Funeral Home. Memorial services will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Martin of St. Paul’s.
Mr. Hankins was born and raised in Natchitoches, LA and a resident of Shreveport since 1978. He was owner and operator of Handicap Services and has been active in various organizations. He had a love for music and was currently working on the restoration of the Municipal Auditorium.
Lull was a dedicated father to his two sons, Luke and David. He encouraged and shared in their joys and dreams for their young lives. He loved to watch them participate in sports whether it was soccer, lacrosse, or football. Despite the challenges Lull faced in life he was on the sideline and behind the scenes helping them deal with victories and disappointments. As a father he lovingly guided both of them into becoming the fine young men they are today. Lull was so proud to watch Luke marry the love of his life, Miriam Estes on May 30th of this year. He was also proud to watch his son David play in the Cotton Bowl in January of this year for the winning Ole Miss Rebels. Lull was an inspiration to his boys by overcoming unbelievable obstacles faced by his quadriplegia. He passed on to Luke and David drive, determination, love and kindness. But most importantly, Lull taught Luke and David to believe in the Lord and to remember what truly matters in life. Luke and David will miss their dad every day and will be better men because of him.
Mr. Hankins was preceded in death by his parents, Lela George and Lull Hankins. He is survived by his two sons, Luke Hankins and wife, Miriam and David Hankins and their mother, Renee’ McCuller and her husband, Daniel; sister, Louise Broadwell and husband, Larry; special cousins, Sue Smith and husband, Gene and Liz Richardson; numerous other relatives in the area.
