I was saddened to hear of Walt's passing! Leaving Nelson in '62, I never had the time to develop much of a friendship with Walt, but at the reunion, he was one of the few people I chatted with. His father and my father worked together at KFP and were acquainted more through them than school? My condolences to Family and Friends. Gone too soon!
Rest In Peace Walter. The first person I knew from Nelson who left after he got out of school and went work playing music, a real trailblazer. He already had been at it tenor fifteen years when we met up in Kamloops, probably in 1976 or 77. He was in Vancouver for a while then I lost track of him until the reunion in 2013. Getting to sit with Walter and Nick Bubas, two of my high school hero's was the hi light of the weekend. Fly light an eagle, out among the stars.
So sorry to hear about Walter's passing, Sharon. My condolences to you and your family. It felt like yesterday that we saw you guys at the 2013 LVR reunion. I enjoyed hearing Walter and Cam playing a bit of guitar and some singing after the dance. Walter's parents and mine were not only neighbours at one point but also good friends. He will be missed.
I didn't know Walter at school but remember him being in a band. In the early 70's my sister and I were on a booze cruise on the Jolly Roger in Barbados when someone we were talking to said "there are some other people from Canada on here" and we thought "yeah, right we'll know them" so we tracked them down and it was Walter, his wife and his brother! We spent some time with them in the next day or two and really enjoyed their company. I'm sad to hear of his passing and even sadder I didn't connect with him at the reunion.
My most vivid recollection of Walter, was him sitting on a stool in Habakkuk's Coffee House singing his version of Pete Segur's "Little Boxes". A fixture in the music scene at that time..... He will be missed!

I'm feeling shocked with the news of Walter's passing.I have no history with Walter, however, I do remember him well with his nice smile and sincere attitude at LVR. He will be missed for sure.
Walter, you will go far in God's World.
Sincerest of sympathies to your family and close friends.
Rest in Peace, Walter.
