I remember Gus as such a quiet, kind , gentle guy. He was a pretty good guitar player and bailed me out after I volunteered to play a guitar part and couldn't get it in a school play or some kind of deal. Gus was a good guitar teacher and later played bass with the Blue Velvets, probably one of the more successful guitar bands to come out of the Nelson area. Saddened to hear of his passing, "Gus played electric bass, played it with style and grace" Rest in Peace Gus.
Gus was an very unassuming classmate with a generous heart. Memories that come to mind include the many times in woodshop where he would gladly provide "another set of hands" when I needed help with projects and as Cam's comments indicate, hIs passion was the music and as Cam has reported, he was successful locally. I do recall his love of Johnny Cash music at the time when the Memphis Million dollar quartet recorded (Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins). Many times he would drop around my place when I was learning guitar. He was a good friend.
