Raised children, got divorce in 1996 and went wild and worked, went back to school in 1999, graduated from Southeast CC (Associates Degree) in 2001, went wild and worked some more, graduated from Pikevelle College in 2003 (Bachelor of Science), went wild and worked some more, graduated from Goddard College( Masters in Psychology/Religion) in 2005. Got saved. Went to work for UK in Oct 2005 as a paper pusher (much better than some things I've pushed in my time). I am a Professional Development Counselor which is a big title for a scholarship paper pusher. I also have a second job doing child care retrainings for child care staff. My main occupation is Jesus Freak!
I remember drinking moonshine from a fruit jar on the first ever Senior Skip Day at Pound Lake. The tradition started with us in 1976. Letcher Co Central has that tradition still going even after F-N HS is a memory. We have bragging rights to that tradition.
I remember David King arriving on that skip day at the lake on his mo-ped with a backpack of books on his back. He was always so studious and I remember how impressed I was by his showing up there. We were getting wild as a buck and he just sat down at the table and began to read. He was dedicated to his class and his studies but didn't party with us. He did not judge us though. I was finally able to tell him that about a year or so ago when I ran into him at the BP in Neon.
I always thought that was so cool.
I remember how excited we were when Teresa Taylor (my ole pal) ran for student council president and in her speech she used Scarlet Oharra's line which was resky at that time. We about rattled the walls cheering and she won.
I remember how heartbroken I was when Michelle Stewart(BFF) married Mike Rudd. It signaled the end of our childhood for real. Then a lot of us started getting married and things changed forever.
I remember lying to my mom and sneaking off to go "parading" to Jenkins the day of the big game. We threw eggs (the names of those present have been changed to protect the innocent)and got taken to the Jenkins Police Dept. They called our parents. My parents grounded me and I didn't get to go to the ballgame that night. My band uniform hung ready on the back of the bedroom door but I could not march that night. I cried myself to sleep that night wishing I could watch the clash of the (beloved)purple and gold and the (greatly despised) green and white.
Ain't it cool!!!
