DR. STEPHEN DOUGLAS HOUSE, 79

Steve was born June 20, 1945 and died June 22, 2024 at home in Bowling Green surrounded by family.

Steve was associated with Western Kentucky University for more than 30 years.  During his time on the hill, he was a charter member of Lambda Chi Alpha and received a bachelor's and master's degree from WKU.  He earned a doctoral degree from IU and completed the Executive Program in Negotiations at Harvard Law School.  During his tenure at WKU, he held the positions of Director of Admissions, University Registrar, Executive Assistant to the President and Executive Director of the Knicely Institute for Economic Development.  He taught in the Ford College of Business with a specialization in the areas of negotiation and mediation of conflict.  He has served as a project director for programs sponsored by the TVA, SBA, AT&T, US Dept. of Commerce.  He is a former president of the National Assn of Mgt & Tech Assistance Centers, served on numerous boards including American Assoc of Retirement Cmmunities, Ky Small Business Development Centers, Ky Certified Community Partnership, Southern Growth Policies Board, Ky Quality Control.  Steve made numerous presentations to Native American People including the Navajo in NM, Choctaw in MS, Native Alaskans in remote villages of Shismaref and Kotzebue.  He was a commissioned Kentucky Colonel, owned a private business, and was a successful boxing and music promoter.  He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church.

Steve is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith, sons Jeff and Danny, 4 grandsons.  His funeral was June 26, 2024 at J.C. Kirby & Sons with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Bowling Green.
