Roger L. Rains, 70, of New Castle died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis following a brief illness. He was born October 30, 1949 in Rural Murl, Kentucky, a son of the late James and Elma Catron Rains.

Roger retired from Chrysler Corporation after 31 years of service. He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and loved his church family.

He is survived by his two daughters, Shannon (Brad) Brown of New Castle and Sonja (Rick) Krathwohl of Anderson; a son, Mark (Kimberly) Rains of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, Mason, Bailey, Rachel, Sarah, Storie, Jacob and Julie; one great grandchild, Gavin; one brother, David Rains of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Doris Thompson of New Castle and Linda Craig of Cadiz; several nieces, nephews and special friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Denney Rains.
