I knew Mike virtually all of my life, as he lived just around the corner.  In grade school, we played whiffle ball home run derby in front of my house, wore out a lot of shoes and whiffle balls.

We moved on to basketball and he was always a step ahead, A team while I was a B teamer. Enjoyed watching him move to the varsity and be a part of that great final four team !

We lost touch for a lot of years then ran into him at a Muncie Central vs New Castle football game and had a chance to talk and how life had been good.

He was a good man and will always remember the good times, especailly riding to school in his VW Bug with no heat during the winter.

I'm married to Mike's cousin.  Mike passed away March 18, 2006 at the age of 53.  At that time, he was principle at Alexandria Monroe High School.  He had a daughter and a son.  It was a shock to the family when after a brief illness he passed away (at Ball Hospital).
