hello red raiders,

If you are looking at the site you will notice a major change.  NO ADS!!

Thanks to several of your classmates, the website will continue and is funded for the next ten years without ads!

Greetings all 63 classmates!!!  Just another quick reminder about our “Mini Reunion” on May29, 2021 qt the VFW in Lower Burrell starting at 6:30 PM (1830 for younz military types!).  It will be completely informal.  We will have our own space so there will be no mingling with a large crowd in the main bar area.  For those who still feel reluctant 2nd to Covid 19, to my knowledge everyone who is attending has had their “shots”, so exposure to the virus should not be a major concern.  If anyone wants to come who has not been vaccinated, please be considerate and wear a mask and we will have masks available for anyone who wants to wear one.  The safety of everyone is obviously important and we will do everything we can to insure it.  I hope to see YOU there!!!  All the best and go Stillers!!!  Wayne

Howdy all 63er’’s!  The time has come to get together!  Fortunately Covid seems to be waning and to my knowledge our class seems to have weathered the storm!  To that end, we are planning another “Mini Reunion” on Sat. Night, May 29 at the VFW in Lower Burrell, thanks to Fred Grau.  All invited, spouses, significant others, pets, kids, grand kids, and even great grands,, cause I am sure there are a few out  there (if they are over 21!!!).It will be totally informal.  Just a great time to meet and reminisce about our great class and the good times.  Food and drinks will be on your own, but we will try to have pizza and wings on hand.  Starting at 6:30 PM until...... we peter out, which for many of us is not 12 midnight anymore.  But probably around 10 o’clock or so.  Yvonne Pelino will be sending out an email blast to the addresses we have.  A reply/conformation/regrets etc. would be helpful in planning obviously.  My email is “, or Cell Phone is 817-689-8640.  Yvonne’s Cell is 561-307-4177, and her email is  If your contact info has changed, please let one of us know!  WOW, I haven’t written this much since BC (before Covid).  I hope each of you is healthy and happy and look forward to meeting again!  Cheers, Wayne Schuricht

Dennis J. Sobecki, 74, of Richmond, Va., originally of New Kensington, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020, after a courageous battle with a short illness. He is survived by his high-school love and spouse of 53 years, Barbara; his daughter, Denise Hailey, son-in-law Shannon, and his adored granddaughter, Shaden. He is also survived by two siblings, Pamela Naviglia (Louis, and Matthew Sobecki (Kathy); his brother-in-law, Nick Lappa (Nancy); and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jennie Sobecki, and his brother, Mark Sobecki (Lynne). Dennis was a proud veteran of the Army. He also spent a decade as assistant fire chief in New Kensington before relocating to Richmond, Va. Dennis was a friend to everyone he met, a true jokester who kept everyone around him laughing. Dennis will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father; a fun-loving grandfather; and a generous, kind-hearted man who truly lived his life putting family before all else. Services to be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Dennis' memory to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

I hope you and your families are surviving and thriving through these crazy unprecedented times. I'm sure 2020 was a blur for most of us. Although I take the necessary precautions, I have not allowed the pandemic to keep me locked inside. I still took frequent trips to Pittsburgh last year to visit family and friends. I left Cleveland November 28th (by myself) and traveled to Greenville, NC, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, West Palm Beach, Hollywood Hard Rock Guitar Hotel, Naples and Fort Myers and had a great time visiting and staying with friends on the way. My goal is to retire this year or next (I still work for a publishing company selling advertising for a Senior Magazine...Northeast Ohio Boomer and Beyond) and hope to permanently move to Florida. Would love to know what other adventures classmates have taken in the past year or so. Who has gotten the vaccine? I"m waiting for my 2nd shot next week. It will get better and we will be back to some semblance of normalcy.

I would still like to pull together a "class reunion" via ZOOM in the next few months. I couldn't remember who offered us to use their ZOOM account to do this. Please contact me and let's see if we can work it out. If you are interested in participating, please let me know on this site,or write me at my personal email If you don't think we have your current contact information, please also send that to me so I can alter it on my spreadsheet from 2019. Thanks and keep the faith! Blessings to all in 2021.

Just returned from vacation to the sad news about Bobby Engle. As Russ so eloquently put it, Bob was a saint in every respect, especially for putting up with Miss B's abuse. However, I can remember her speaking of him with great admiration for his talent. In the end, I think all of us choir members came to respect and cherish both of them. Bob was the epitome of professionalism, kindness and patience that the world continues to need, more than ever. It's obvious he cherished his high school days and friendships. I know he'll continue to make great music now for the angels.

I attended Third Ward School on Victoria Avenue when Eddie Saliba was a volunteer firefighter. The fire station was directly across the street from the school and when we would hear the fire siren, we would look out the windows and there went Eddie, running toward the station. He and his brother had Saliba's store on the corner and it was always a delight to shop there for snacks. A Great memory for all of us from Third Ward School. Eddie stayed with the New Kensington Fire Department and passed away as a Chief. If you are interested, this is the link to his tribute ceremony in New Kensington.

I have some proud news... My daughter Erin has published her first book! For years, she’s been ghostwriting leadership and personal growth books.

In true Erin style, it’s called, “Don’t Tell Me to Calm Down: Face Your Power & Find Your Peace.”
