Mrs. Mary Alice was agraduate of Columbia College. She taught for 38 years in the Sumter County, Clarendon County and Florence County School Systems. She was a member of Nazareth United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a leader of the Women's Missionary Society and a Circle leader. She was a member and past president of the Olanta Garden Club.
She was a wonderful teacher and a dear, sweet lady. I'll have to admit trying to teach a bunch of country children how to speak French was certainly a chore. I reckon she pulled it off. Wee.
