Kathy Allen Gerber was a devoted mother and daughter and friend. She was also a beloved teacher. She died of heart disease on March 27, 2007, with her sons Ryan and Rory, brother Phil and his wife Pam, and parents Doris and Jim Allen by her side. Her grandson Keegan brought much joy to her life during the two years they shared. Kathy taught Latin at Zanesville High School and served as department chair for many years. Her toga-clad students attended her funeral and spoke with great love and understanding. A scholarship has been established in her memory for deserving graduates of Zanesville High School.
Kathy has been gone two years. She was a true friend, always there for anyone. She never hung up the phone without saying, "Luv ya, Trea." She is very much missed. She dedicated her life to her family and students. Her Latin students gave her a heart-felt tribute, attired in togas, at her memorial service. She truly impacted many lives.
