I am very saddened to inform you that my closest friend of 54 years Mark Mitchell (class of 1964) passed away last Friday, June 27, 2014. Mark suffered from leukemia. He passed away at his home in Arizona. His ashes will be buried next to his mother and father at Newark Memorial Gardens at a future date

OBITUARY IN NEWARK ADVOCATE JULY 5,2014

LAKESIDE, AZ: Mark Mitchell, 68 passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his residence in Lakeside, Arizona. He was born on April 18, 1946 in Columbus, OH, son of the late Joseph and Martha (Koehler) Mitchell.

Mark proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the war where he received the following metals; National Defense Service, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Pistol Marksman Badge. Mark graduated from Newark High School in 1964 and retired from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada then moved to Lakeside, Arizona to spend his retirement enjoying nature and fishing. Mark never forgot his roots in Newark, Ohio, he was fun loving and liked to be in company of his family and friends.

He is survived by his two daughters, Marcy M Hopkins and Mia M Mitchell (Michael Davis); grandchildren Corinne M. Troxell (Kris Bryslan), Joseph H. Davis and one great grand child Isaiah; brothers, Joseph Earl Mitchell II, Cary Milo (Robin) Mitchell and Kelly Scott Mitchell.

Memorial service will be held at Moundbuilder's Park, 21st Street Newark, Sunday, July 6th 2014 at 1:00 p.m. where the family will receive visitors.
