Charles A. "Chuck" Kaneff, Jr.

NEWARK: A funeral service for Charles Arthur "Chuck" Kaneff, Jr., age 55, of Newark, will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Jonathan Mitchell officiating. Chuck passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). He was born July 22, 1956 in Newark, Ohio to the late Charles A. Kaneff, Sr. and Donna (Disbennett) Kaneff.

Chuck was a 1974 graduate of Newark High School. He was employed as a caregiver with Consumer Support Services. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing and writing poetry. He was an accomplished wood carver and hand-carved many items for his family and friends, including toy guns for his grandchildren with which they spent many happy hours playing.

He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, who were the love of his life. The grandkids enjoyed spending the night at grandma and grandpa's house and drinking coffee with them.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Linda L. (Landram) Kaneff, whom he married August 9, 1976; daughter, Kolby (Kraig) Helle of Newark; two sons, Matthew (Heather) Kaneff of Newark and Charles (Krystal) Kaneff III of Stoutsville; six grandsons, Ryan Helle, Christopher Kaneff, Logan Helle, Blake Helle, Dakota Kaneff and Ethan Helle; two granddaughters, Victoria Kaneff and Brooklyn Kaneff; brothers, Jerry (Jasca) Kaneff of Newark, Jerry Merrits of Iowa and Randy (Loralee) Kaneff of St. Louisville; sisters, Judy Israel and Charla (Roy) Frazier, all of Newark; sister-in-law, Laura Merrits of Newark; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and Larry Landram of Heath; sisters-in-law, Jolene Cramer of Reynoldsburg, Lori Landram and Twoie Robinson, both of Heath, and Shantel Jenkins of Newark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelsi Kaneff, brother, Ronald Merrits; brother-in-law, Archie Israel; sister-in-law, Deena Landram; and an aunt, Manietta Kaneff.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
