Gail Diane Griffin Bugner, 40, died Jan. 10, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita as a result of her diabetes.
She was born June 17, 1961, at Hutchinson, the daughter of John W. and Jan Ayers Griffin. A lifetime Reno County resident, she was a 1979 graduate of Nickerson High School, and a 1985 graduate of Fort Hays State University. She was married to Allen Bugner who was a teacher at Buhler High School—their son graduated from Nickerson High School this year.
* I want everyone to know that she fought a hard fight up to the end and she is truly an inspiration to me each and every day. When life gets a little tough—I think of Gail and her daily battles with pain and blindness and amputation and it keeps my trials and tribulation in perceptive. It taught me to go out and live each day to the fullest. - by Connie Greathouse-Johnson

What a special person that I was honored to call my friend. She taught me so many things. She never complained about the pain from her diabetes, she always had an amazing memory - she knew all of our classmates - their childrens names and ages and the spouses names and where they worked - she was truly amazing.
