1939-2009

Vernon James Doran was born May 27, 1939, at Plankinton, S.D., to Bernard William Doran and Margaret Lucille Krell. He graduated from Plankinton High School in 1957. He attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, S.D., and Wayne State College in Wayne. He received his master's degree in both education and administration. He married Joan Auld at St. John's Catholic Church on Sept. 2, 1957. He taught high school in Roslyn, S.D., Corsica, S.D., Crofton and Norfolk. He was a guidance counselor and a principal before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling to go-kart races and to see his family.  Mr. Doran passed away on April 8, 2009
