OMAHA — John M. Barnett, a native of Norfolk who resided in Omaha, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at age 54.
Following graduation from Norfolk Public High School, he attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney. An entrepreneur, he established and ran several successful businesses.
In the years preceding his death he struggled with multiple health issues. He had a generous nature, a good heart, vast intelligence and a wonderful sense of humor. He was the son of the late Rev. Dr. James M. and Marian S. Barnett and former husband of Michele L. Winchell. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica R. Kaiser, and brothers J. Mark Barnett, Thomas O. Barnett and Paul W. Barnett.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Saint Martha’s Episcopal Church, 780 Pinnacle Drive, Papillion, Neb., 68046.
The family will host a lunch reception at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Martha’s.
