NORFOLK - Graveside services for Daniel L. Thies, 49, of Norfolk will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Chip Winter officiating. Memorial services will follow at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel with visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday.
He died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Faith Regional Health Services.

Daniel Lee Thies was born Nov. 9, 1959, at Norfolk, the son of Lyle and Carol (Asmus) Thies. He was baptized on Dec. 20, 1959, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Winside.
Daniel married Cathleen Stinson at Norfolk. He worked at Coe Cattle Co., Dugdale's, Midwest Beef and Dupaco, all in Norfolk. He was later employed at Krohn Trucking and Henningsen's in Norfolk. He was a Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed fishing, throwing darts and getting together with his family and friends.
Daniel is survived by daughter Angela Thies of Wichita, Kan.; son Benjamin Thies of Minneapolis, Minn.; his parents, Lyle and Carol Thies of Norfolk; one brother, Terry and Mary Thies of Pierce; one twin sister, Deb and Steve Schulz of Madison.
Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Soloist will be the Rev. Chip Winter with music by the congregation.
Pallbearers will be Daniel's nieces and nephews, Jeremiah Schulz, Emily Schulz, Caleb Schulz, Jessica Sivers, Neil Sivers, Torie Sherman, Jaran Sherman.
