LE MARS, Iowa — Michael D. Tyler, 55, of Le Mars died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow officiating and inurnment at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church at 9:30 a.m.

Michael Dean Tyler was born Aug. 21, 1959, in Norfolk to Harold “Bud” and Nancy (Moon) Tyler. He received his education in Norfolk. Mike and Pam Clause were united in marriage on Dec. 2, 1977, in Madison. The couple lived in Norfolk following their marriage.

Mike began his career with Well’s Dairy while living in Norfolk. He later had the opportunity to transfer to Le Mars in 1991. The family moved to Le Mars and Mike worked at the North Ice Cream Plant. For the last several years Mike worked at the South Ice Cream Plant until his death.

Mike enjoyed archery, 3-D shoots and deer hunting. He also enjoyed going fishing and camping. When camping, Mike was known for his dutch-oven cooking. He also enjoyed watching movies with family, tinkering with small engines and rebuilding his 1965 F-250.

His greatest joy in life was family. He enjoyed having his children and grandchildren coming over to visit.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Pam of Le Mars; three children; a son, Lee Tyler and his wife Melessa and their family Justin, Nathan and Kirsten of Le Mars; a daughter, Sara Tyler of Des Moines, Iowa; and a son, Adam Tyler and his wife Billie and their family Ethan, Evan and Leigha of Alton, Iowa; his father, Harold “Bud” Tyler and his wife Evelyn of Newman Grove; a sister, Peggy Landsteiner and her husband Glen of Mankato, Minn.; two brothers, Pat Tyler and his wife Rhonda of Norfolk and Todd Tyler and his wife Barb of Lincoln; his mother-in-law, Marie Smalley and her husband Larry of Norfolk; a brother-in-law, Perry Clause of Tilden; and nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy (Moon) Tyler; a sister, Ann Miller; and his father-in-law, Dick Clause.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Kirsten, Ethan, Evan and Leigha.
