MINDEN - Monty G. Montgomery, 49, of Minden died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in Grand Island as a result of a car accident in Hall County.
Memorial services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Mary Schukar officiating. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.

Monty Gene Montgomery was born on Oct. 2, 1959, in Kearney to LeRoy and Stella (Ourada) Montgomery. Monty moved to Norfolk in 1967 and later graduated from Norfolk High School in 1978.
While in Norfolk, Monty worked at the Norfolk Daily News, and he had worked at Century Lumber for 20 years.
He married Linda Powell on Sept. 5, 1981. In 2001, they moved to Minden, and Monty worked for Cashway and Morris Press in Kearney, then Casey's in Minden, Nabisco-Kraft and at the Kearney Wal-Mart and the Hastings Wal-Mart.
Monty loved to sing, motorcycles, keeping his cars clean, but most of all his family.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden and was active with Walk to Emmaus.
Survivors include his wife Linda of Minden; two sons, Jesse of Hastings and Andrew "A. J." of Los Angeles, Calif.; his father LeRoy Montgomery and his wife Darlene of Minden; one brother Steve Montgomery and his wife Trish of Norfolk; brothers-in-law Daniel Powell of Norfolk, Dennis Powell and his wife Donna of Colorado and Mark Powell of Omaha; two stepbrothers, Dallas Shearer of North Platte and Dondi Shearer of Kearney; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Stella and both sets of grandparents.
