MC COOK Lake, S.D. -- David Goff, 40, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at his McCook Lake, S.D., residence after a nine-month battle with cancer.

David Duane Goff was born Dec. 21, 1963, to Duane H. and Janice (Smith) Goff at Norfolk, Neb.

He attended school there and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1982. David continued his education and received his land surveyor's license in 1999.

He lived in Phoenix, Ariz., Seattle, Wash., and moved back to Norfolk in 1998. He moved to McCook Lake in 2001.

David married Patrice Manning Traver June 1, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was employed with McLaury Engineering at the time of his death.

David Goff was confirmed in the Methodist Church. He was a member of the Norfolk Crimson Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps from 1978 to 1981. He belonged to the Professional Surveyors Association of Nebraska, S.E. Nebraska Land Surveyors Association, and the Izaak Walton League of McCook Lake since 2001.

He enjoyed music, cooking, wine tasting, gardening and home improvement.

Survivors are his wife, Patrice of McCook Lake, S.D.; two step-sons, Zachary Traver and Clinton Traver, both of Hinton; his parents, Duane and Janice Goff of Norfolk, Neb.; a step-grandmother, Ina Phoebe Smith of Mapleton; a sister and her husband, Marsha and Jim Aldridge of Des Moines; father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Janet Manning of Le Mars; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Mike and Jan Manning of Carlsbad, Calif., David and Michlen Manning of Seattle, Wash., Joe and Debbie Manning of Iowa City; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Linda and Rob Taylor-Manning of Seattle, Wash., Sue and Kelly Renfro of Sioux City; eight nieces and nephews; aunt, uncles, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and two aunts.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with Lori Dyke officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Visitation is at the Christy-Smith MOrningside Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
