In Memory

John Ross

February 23, 1947 - April 30, 2019

John Mark Ross, 70, passed away on April 30, 2019 in Norman after a brief battle with colon cancer. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. His uncanny wit and humorous cynicism entertained as well as brought us much laughter over the years and remained with him to the end.
He was born in Purcell on Feb. 23, 1947, the son of John and Berniece Ross. He grew up in Norman and graduated from Norman High School Class of '67. John Mark attended the University of Oklahoma then transferred to the University of Houston, where he studied Marketing & Advertising. He also served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. John Mark spent most of his life in southern California where he worked in the industry of Advertising and Publishing eventually starting his own publishing company. He was a creative, talented writer, and serious OU football fan.
John Mark retired and returned to Purcell to be closer to family. He will be fondly remembered for his loving support, eclectic nature, practical wisdom, cheeseburger eggrolls, homemade chili, humorous emails, interest in history, airplanes, love of cheese, command central and so much more. Although we will miss him immensely his presence will remain forever in our hearts.
John Mark was predeceased by Parents, stepfather, Jack Brannon, brother, Terry Ross, and nephew, Timothy Clark along with "the girls" his favorite cats.
He is survived by his sister, Toni Johnson (Pete), niece, Tane Clark (Chris), nephew Kasey Clark (Gail), and many relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be Saturday, July 20th at 10:00 AM at Joseph's Cemetary.
