Craig Lee Stevenson, 60, passed away in September 2009 in Las Vegas. While in Norman and attending the University of Oklahoma, he was a rugby club player. Some of his ashes were ceremoniously spread at mid-field by his big brother at the OU Rugby Pitch with OU and Norman High players, family and friends attending. Craig was born in February 1949 at Scott Field AFB, Ill., the youngest son of Col. Ralph Stevenson and Nila L. Anderson, both of Ponca City. Craig was born in February 1949 at Scott Field AFB, Ill., the youngest son of Col. Ralph Stevenson and Nila L. Anderson, both of Ponca City. Craig, a former Norman resident was a most creative individual with many friends. While trying his hand at screenwriting he collaborated with celebrities such as Pat Morita, Tiffany Bolling and Albuquerque’s John P. King, to name a few. His interest switched to classic autos and he became one of the finest refurbishers of early model Porsche engines. Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman and Bud Shank were a few of his clients. Craig was passionate rally driver, an “Outlaw” and one of the charter members of RGRUPPE, as well as, a southern California 356 Registry organizer. His death brought a big void in Porsche knowledge and labor. He proud of his Scottish ancestry and SAR linage. His independent, but caring attitude, odd stories, crazy jokes and laughter will be missed. He is survived by his brother Ralph Jr., nephew Dylan and great-niece Emily, whom he greatly cherished. “Death is the sound of distant thunder at a picnic” —W.H. Craig would do just about anything and it often got him in big trouble with his military officer dad (whom Craig always referred to as 'the Colonel'). Still a nice guy.
