Tommy Martin Hopkins
March 19, 1956 — April 4, 2026
Edmond
Tommy Martin Hopkins passed peacefully at home on April 4th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer. He lived a life devoted to providing for his loved ones and left a legacy of duty, discipline, responsibility, and love.
Tom was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on March 19th, 1956, as the third of four children to Harold Hopkins Sr and Lexie (Martin) Hopkins. He and his family moved to Pauls Valley, then Chickasha, and finally to Norman. He graduated from Norman High School where he first met his wife, Sharon. They attended the University of Oklahoma together and Tom graduated in 1980 with a B.A. in Finance. He then began his long career in banking.
After getting married in 1981, Tom and Sharon moved to Moore, Oklahoma. After the birth of their children, they moved to Edmond, where Tom fostered values in his children of hard work and dedication, supporting them in their academic and musical pursuits. Tom retired in 2015 and spent much of his retirement falling in love with his grandchildren.
In his youth, Tom loved riding motorcycles and working on cars. Tom loved music, some of his favorite bands were the Eagles, Steely Dan, and John Mayer. He loved movies and was always thrilled to sit in awe of a terrible movie and wonder “why was this made?”. He liked improving and maintaining his homes and cars; he was never intimidated by the complexity of a task and was good at researching and learning. He built multiple decks and fences, repaired cars, and pools, and was always ready to help his family.
Tom was quick to show affection, casually funny, always bringing levity with a clever joke at just the right time, and he was unfalteringly responsible. He set an example of self-discipline and served as a rock upon which all who loved him could rely. He was a unique and wonderful person who will be missed dearly and whose absence will be felt intensely by all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his wife Sharon, son Taylor Hopkins and fiancée Elizabeth Webster, daughter Madison Hopkins and wife Krystal Wilson, and daughter Casey Bryant and husband Dave; brother Harold Hopkins Jr. and wife Carey, sister Cindy Cerne, and sister April Bowers; and grandchildren Ellie, Caleb, and Joseph.
Memorial Service will be held Friday April 10th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 900 N. Sooner Rd Edmond OK, 73034.
