In Memory

Judy Mitchell (Cossey)

Judy Mitchell (Cossey)

Judith Ann Cossey passed away October 30, 2023, at her home in Edmond, Oklahoma, surrounded by family. Judy was born on August 19, 1956, in Oklahoma City, to James and Carolyn Mitchell. She attended Norman High School and achieved an Associate Degree in Nursing from Oklahoma City Community College, where she was a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll.

During her life, Judy worked as a hairstylist, and as a nurse in Oncology. She was a member of the Methodist Church and had many hobbies. She loved watching and playing sports with her friends and family, especially football and softball, as well as attending concerts and watching movies at the theater. She loved animals and bred Great Danes and Persian cats. Judy enjoyed travelling; one particularly memorable vacation was the trip she took to Padre Island together with her siblings. Becoming a Registered Nurse was one of her proudest achievements, along with raising her children, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her partner Bill Prust who she met in May of 2018, as well as her mother and father Carolyn and James Mitchell, sister Linda Shea, and brother Carl Mitchell.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her sons: Chris and wife Heidi, and Shawn, her sister Valerie Mitchell, her brother Richard Smith and wife Becky, eight grandchildren: Jesse, Tristin, Jaxon, Tyler, Alex, Griffin, Emma, and Anderson, as well as three great-grandchildren: Vanessa, Britton, and Nicole. Along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on November 18, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Norman Senior Center, 329 S. Peters Ave Norman, OK 73069. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to a charity benefiting Parkinson’s Disease research and care.
