Eddie Morgan lives in Taos where he has his own art shop. It does reverse engraving and it is spectacular. Too expensive for me to buy anything though. If you are ever in Taos, drop by his shop which is just north of the square. Eddie has lived a sort of hippie life style since the 1970's.

Shirley, I got out my Purgold from '58. His name was Paschal Twyman! And it was Citizenship. I had his class as well but can't remember what hour! When we got our schedules that summer we couldn't figure out what that name was. I think it might have been a "TBA"! He also had a study hall according to the blurp below his picture. And, yes, he was easy on the eyes!!!

Hi, Jim. I enjoyed your memories of specific Hornets. I wish that for our 50th (a somewhat amazing number) that you and ALL classmates, just this once, could have been present--it was a wonderful event, with lots of variety and many different opportunities to re-acquaint with long-unseen but still recognizable classmates. It's sort of a milestone at which to view how each life has turned out: their accomplishments, their offsprings' lives and all.

You must be keeping in pretty good shape: I construed your "excuse for not attending our reunion" as being a big long bike ride...?

I had forgotten your co-editorship of the BUZZ. I was also on the staff, editor of some small section--can't recall. I thought I had kept all my BUZZ papers, but can't find them. I tend to keep "sentimental" stuff like that.

I sometimes think of your sister, and wonder if she's doing okay and where she is. Maybe it's in the bios. I'll retrace.

Does anyone remember a Freshman year teacher named "Pasquale" something -- or something Pasquale? I remember that he was very, very handsome and most of the girls were excited for class - think it was History (very NON-female class).

Proposal to Recognize-Joe Courthers

As many of you know Joe Courthers was inducted into the Missouri Wrestling Hall of Fame some years ago. While there have been many recognitions of his contributions to Missouri wrestling I think it is appropriate that he be recognized for his contribution to the Class of 1961.

You may have forgotten or possibly did care but only three sort years after starting the North Kansas City High wrestling team in 1958/59 North Kansas City fought its’ way to the state meet in St. Louis. In February of 1961 North Kansas City place 4^th in total team point at that meet and brought back two second place medals.

What is important to recognize about Joe is not the winning of meets and medals but the enormous effort he put into to the making us successful. Miles of driving an old school bus, in the cold of winter, full us to distant places to make sure we had the experience needed to win in the regional’s and at the State Meet in St. Louis. The year of 1960/61 we traveled to Corning Iowa, Topeka Kansas and St. Louis (over the Christmas holidays). Joe and the assistant coach would take turns driving. No other team in the state put in the miles we did.

While there were a number of teachers I believe were outstanding examples of good citizenship and role models for the Class of 1961, a.k.a. Mr. Moore (Trig and Algebra), I believe it is important to recognize those that took the students of the class of 1961 beyond what was and routine, and to start a new tradition for North Kansas City.
