Lisa Tilghman Mays was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor soon after she completed her degree in recreation therapy from GA Southern in Statesboro. By God's grace, her life was extended for many more years during which time she was married for 21 years to Russ Mays. Lisa fought her illness with great courage and it was only in the last 2 years of her life that she was significantly disabled from the effects of the tumor.

Lisa was always such a BRIGHT LIGHT! She shined love and friendship and goodwill on everyone she met. I had NO idea, until this websight was opened, that Lisa had passed away.
Lisa was kind. She was friendly and open to others. She was sparkling. She was a delight.
In High School, with all our immaturity, our cliques, our struggling to understand the world (in our limited experience), and our teenaged fears...we often connected with one another, but didn't always form bonds.
That doesn't mean we don't have fond and true memories of some who weren't our close friends, but that is our loss. Some of you out there had the privilege of having Lisa as your close friend. I have the blessing of remembering her smiles, her sweetness, and I always, always liked her so VERY much.
Sometimes, Lisa smiling at you could just make you day!
