Obituary Listing: Kurt Billstein, 55, of Woodstock died Sunday. Memorial service, 11 a.m. Friday, Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church; H.M. Published in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on May 4, 2010
Kurt and I grew up together on Underwood Drive, and went to both Underwood Hills and NorthSprings. This picture was taken of us just a few months before his passing at my Mom's funeral.
I only knew Kurt as a soccer player after he left NSHS. I was teaching in NS summer school in 1970, I think it was, and played in a summer league in which Kurt was a player. I was too old and too out of shape to be much good, so Kurt easily side-stepped the one check I made on him. Kurt played on the state championship team of 69, I think? Or maybe it was 68?
Kurt was a special guy... Jonny W, has some fun stories to tell about our young 'Romeo & Juliet' experiences! I was shocked to hear that he was gone so suddenly and so young. He was a gentle, artistic soul who has always had a soft spot in my heart. Susan Heidt Alvarez

Kurt was a good friend during my too-short Underwood Hills days; I'm pleased to have seen him again at last year's Underwood reunion.
He truly had an artist's sensibilities, something that is actually rather rare. Gone too soon, I think.
