Winifred Hoskins Stephenson, 49, died peacefully at her home in Reston, VA on May 12, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends.

A graduate of Georgia State University and a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Fla., Win had a long career with the American Red Cross; she also founded a consulting firm, Winning Solutions.

Win's faith was the center of her life; she participated in the Education for Ministry program at St. Anne's Church in Reston and generously shared her love. Her passions included gardening and landscaping, and she was an avid sports fanparticularly of baseball.

Win was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Stephenson and Winifred Harriss Stephenson. Her legacy of love lives on through her partner, Patty Rutter; her many devoted friends and family; her brother Hugh Stephenson and his wife Amy; her sister Amy Childs and husband Tripp; and her sister Elizabeth Weathersby.

Win derived great pleasure spending time with her loving nieces and nephews: Tori, Jack, and Thomas Stephenson; Austin, Ashley, and Andrew Childs; and Jack Weathersby, who will all remember her playful spirit.
