 Laura Catherine Hall was called home from her earthly journey to be with her Heavenly Father and join her brothers and grandparents who have gone on before. She died of a sudden illness at her home in Oak Harbor on May 13, 2008. Laura was born June 3, 1970, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Frank and Catherine Hall. The Navy transferred the young family from Corpus Christi to San Diego and then to Memphis, Tenn. In 1981, the Hall family arrived in Oak Harbor. Laura graduated from Oak Harbor High School. She had been a homemaker and for the past five years. She has been a devoted mother. Her son Richard brought much joy to her life. Laura is survived by her parents, Frank and Catherine Hall, Jr., her companion Jeff Phelps and her son Richard Dean Phelps, all of Oak Harbor; her aunt, Carla DeGroot of Culver City, Calif.; her aunt and uncle, Gene and Pat Turley of Rowland Heights, Calif.; her aunt and uncle, Bruce and Ellie Hall of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; her cousins, Scott and Amy Brown of Pico Rivera, Calif., Steve DeGroot of Redondo Beach, Calif., Christopher and Amy DeGroot of Torrance, Calif., and Jason and Claudia DeGroot of Waimea, Hawaii. Laura was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Dwayne Hall and Frank E. Hall III, and grandparents, Frank and Barbara Hall, Loa and Willis Thomas and Ernest and Alta Belote. Funeral services for Laura Hall will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Oak Harbor. Dedication of the grave will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel.
