Reunion Bulletin Board

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, we, the St. Giles Class of 1974 "Mighty Lions" gathered for our 50th reunion!  We had about 50 people in attendance.

The activiities began at St. Giles at 4:30 pm with a afternoon mass at the church,
followed by a tour of the school (man, oh, man!  Everything looked SO MUCH bigger when we were kids!) and ended with a casual reunion evening at O'Sullivans with cocktails and appetizers, talking and laughter, talking and laughter, and then more talking and more laughter....(and did I mention, laughter)

We had two classmates celebrating their actual birthdays on September 14, Colleen O'Brien and Paul Gruszka, and we broke out in a rousing (and completely on key) rendition of "Happy Birthday" The only thing that could have improved is if we had Sister Julie conducting!

Since we were having a supreme and boisterous gabfest, and the volume was quite loud at times, there wasn't enough volume to my voice to announce some of these awards.

First to register: A virtual tie between Chris Pieroni and David Ocasek.
Last to register: Mike Jacobazzi (and we are SO glad you did, Mike!)
Traveled furthest male: John Sullivan from California
Traveled furthest female: pretty much a tie between Mary Panico and me.  I googled distance from Key West Florida to Oak Park, and distance from Missoula, Montana and Oak Park, and it's a difference of about 15 miles.
Honorable mention goes to Beth Sather, who traveled from Colorado
Classmate who fullfilled their prophecy (according to the yearbook for 8th grade)
Paul Gruszka became a doctor, as he said he would! (Maura Buckingham and Frank Rosinia also became doctors, as they predicted)
Sadly, Greg Christian DID NOT become the picure in the center of a dollar bill as he had
predicted!

Classmate with the most trivial knowledge of practically everything: Binney Woods

In case anyone is wondering why there are "yearbook" photos of some classmates on their profiles, and not on everyone's is because the only way I could figure out how to make nametags with photos is from doing it on this site.  I had to upload every photo individually from a collection of class photos over the years.  It was totally random and I didn't have time to put photos for all our classmates.

I am compiling a slide show of photographs from the reunion weekend and would appreciate any photos you'd like to share from the reunion.  So far, I have some photos from my sis, my phone, and Lori Fanning.  If you have photos to share, please click on this link  PHOTO SHARING

Unfortunately, it didn't occur to most of us to get a group photo until after several classmates had left the reunion.  Thank goodness, someone eventually had this idea!  As with most group photos, not everyone seems to be looking at the camera at the same time, so there are some pretty priceless poses in this photo.  It's like we're all a bunch of kids! I have several group photos and will post them so you can maybe find one where YOU are looking in the right direction (look at the "goddamn" camera as my sister said---I think SOMEONE needs to go to confession!)

Here is the playlist I created for the reunion on Spotify called Giles Reunion.  It is all music from the years 1965-1974, our years at St. Giles.  It's pretty good, if I do say so myself!

Please feel free to post your favorite moments from the reunion in the comment box below.
