Yellowstone National Park authorities on Monday released the identity of the woman who fell to her death in the park Friday evening, and asked witnesses to come forward.
Charlotte Harrison, 32, of Beverly Hills, Calif., fell about 400 feet from a cliff in the Calcite Springs area just north of Tower Falls at around 6:30 p.m., park spokesman Al Nash said.
Harrison and a 39-year-old male companion from Los Angeles were traveling through the park and “had stopped to take pictures at a pullout when the incident occurred,” he said.
Rangers “could see Harrison lying motionless on the canyon floor below next to the Yellowstone River,” Nash said. “A ranger who rappelled down the 400-foot cliff confirmed she had died.”
