Thomas Reilly

Thomas Mark Reilly, 39, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Saturday, July 25, 2015, at home.

Born February 20, 1976, in Berwyn, the son of Thomas M. and Sandra L. (Karl) Reilly, Tom married Brooke Ann Gregory on July 29, 2000, in Evansville, Indiana.

A 1994 graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School, Tom was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He had most recently worked as a police officer for the past 11 years at the DeKalb Police Department and earlier worked three years for the Island Lake Police Department.

Tom was recently elected president of the Police Benevolent and Protective Association. He organized a great showing at Bowl For Kids' Sake, earning the most money from a single group in the event's history, according to his friends. He enjoyed bowling and bowled a 300 game last year. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and coordinated Project Thanks for Serving.

Tom was always willing to lend a hand, made friends easily, and was respected by friends and coworkers alike. He had a big heart and will be greatly missed by friends, family and his police department family.

He is survived by his wife, Brooke; daughter, Morgan; parents, Tom and Sandra Reilly of Delavan, Wisconsin; brothers, Timothy (Carmel) Reilly of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and Scott (Jessica) Reilly of LaGrange Highlands, Illinois; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Gregory of Evansville, Indiana; brother-in-law, Jacob Gregory of Evansville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Christ the Teacher University Parish, 512 Normal Road, DeKalb, with Fr. Jeremy Trowbridge and Fr. Matthew McMorrow concelebrating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, with full military honors by DeKalb American Legion, AmVets and VFW, and Marine Corps Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the church.
