Carl Murch

Carl F. Murch
30 May 1947 - 1 Dec 2008
61 Years Old

Carl Murch passed away at his Alturas home in the arms of his loving wife on November 30, 2008.

First and foremost, Carl was a Marine. He served in Vietnam (1967-68) as an engineer building roads, bunkers and base installations along the Demilitarized Zone.

After military service he went on to be a Firefighter and EMT Paramedic in Berkeley, CA. Saving lives and putting out fires was just a prelude to his charitableness in working with comunity projects, such as Christmas in April. Carl would lend a hand to anyone who asked. He blieved in giving 110 percent and thought if we all did, the world might be a better place.

Carl MurchNot wanting to wait for retirement to enjoy life he and his wife Kathy traveled extensively and were avid white water rafters. During these many trips an eye was always watchful for the ideal location in which to retire. He retired in 1998, and in 2001 Carl and his wife Kathy moved from Vacaville to Alturas. Carl was happy and content in his new home and surroundings.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 30, 1947, Carl was raised in Oakland, CA and graduated from Oakland High School.

He is survived by Kathy, his wife of 30 years and his mother Dorothy Barnard who resides in Colorado. A man with many friends; he will be sorely missed.

Carl and I were good friends during high school. We shared a love of cars - fast cars! Carl had a beautiful white '58 Chevy with racing orange under carriage. One could always hear Carl coming up the street. A great guy. Thank you for your service to our country. Rest in Peace.

Your old Cavalier buddy, Jeff Turner

Great guy with a lust for life; used to hang out with Murch at his house over off Macarthur past Diamond after high school and Laney.

Speaking of Orange, he had a great Datsun pick-up he would loan me all the time.

Great memories; good to take time to reflect and share.
