Carole Ann Palmer

Oct. 12, 1947 - Aug. 4, 2009

Resident of Alameda

Carole passed away from her battle with pancreatic cancer at home with family and friends surrounding her. Carole grew up in Oakland, she met Gary Palmer at a function for Golden Chain Assembly International Order of Rainbow for Girls. They were married in 1970 spending two years in Germany while Gary was stationed there in the Army. They became residents of Alameda in 1972 where they have lived and raised their three children. Carole and Gary have been together for 46 years. Carole started her own business as a Medical and Legal transcriptionist so she could be at home after school for the kids.

Family was always number one, from making sure that family members would call when they arrived somewhere to having dinner together every night as a family was very important to Carole. As her three children went through school, she became very active in PTA. She served as president for Otis School, Alameda High School and Alameda Council. She also served as an officer for Alameda District PTA. Overall a PTA career of over 19 years. She spent many nights staying up late working on Otis School Carnivals, Gingerbread Shops and Alameda High School Grad Nites.

When her youngest left for college, Carole found herself with more time to do the things she loved: reading, visiting Disneyland, watching the Oakland A's play ball on TV and most importantly counted cross stitching! Every night she would be looking at a pattern with a needle and thread stitching up a new design. Carole always had a smile on her face. She was the one person that no matter what you had to say she would be there to listen to you, many claimed "She's so easy to talk to!"

Besides her husband, Gary, she is survived by her children Christopher and his wife Erin, Kelley and Jennifer, her mother Alice Dearman, her father William Dearman, her best friend Rita Petersen and her sister's family: Nancy, John, Sean and Shannon Jacoby.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network online: pancan.org/Donate/index.html or by phone (877) 272-6226. Per the wishes of Carole, a party for friends and family in "Celebration of her life" will take place at Raven's Cove Clubhouse 3120 Bayview Drive Alameda, CA 94501 on August 29, 2009 at Noon.
