I came to Alaska on a six week vacation in 1977 with a small bluegrass band and never moved away. Since 1978, I've had an acoustic radio program on KSKA Anchorage Public Radio, currently called Traveling Music. It can be heard on my website.
For thirteen years I worked as Volunteer Coordinator at KSKA, then went back to school for a music education degree. The next twenty-one years I worked as a choir and orchestra teacher in Anchorage, though I live 45 miles north in Wasilla. (And yes the famous lady is from Wasilla, but she's NOT our fault!)
Most of that time I taught beginning orchestra to sixth graders at seven schools.
I've been very involved in the folk music community, and was one of the founders of Dancing Bears, a traditional dance organization back in 1981. I've played in folk bands around the state and beyond, and have three CD's of original music. I'm married to an Alaskan born man, who keeps me laughing.
