In Memory

Sherry Venus (Seymour)

Sherry Venus Seymour, age 47, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at her residence in Ocean Springs, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on September 25, 1963 in Biloxi, MS. She was of Catholic faith and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.

Sherry had a very selfless attitude, and put everyone else's priorities before her own, even through her time of illness. She attended soccer games instead of receiving treatment and missed trips to the doctor to spend Christmas with her family. Her strength was shown through every aspect of her life. She preached her philosophy on giving a 100% effort, and that anything is possible. Her faith was contagious, and her message reached far beyond her friends and family, even affecting the lives of complete strangers who were inspired by her courageous and meaningful life. To some, she was a mother, to others she was a friend, but to everyone, she was an angel.

She was preceded in death by father, DJ Venus III; father-in-law, Jack N. Seymour Sr; mother-in-law, Margaret Martino Seymour; paternal grandparents, David Venus Jr. and Velma Venus; maternal grandparents George and Flo Brown; aunt, Marie Rose Tacon; uncle, Gordan Venus, and son, Preston Seymour.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roy Seymour; her two sons, Dylan and Logan; her daughter, Cameron Jolie; mother, Sherry Venus; brothers, David Venus IV and George "Mims" Venus; sister-in-laws, Gilda Seymour and Helen DeGeorge; brother-in-laws, Ken Freeman, Johnny DeGeorge and Jack N. Seymour, Jr.; aunts, Patsy and Francis Venus; uncle, Johnny Venus; numerous nieces, nephews, and countless wonderful friends.

Thanks to her wonderful lifetime friends and angels, Marie Helm, Lori Hall, Laurie Guice, Cindy Bond , Cindy Byrd Munno, Gary and Tammy Freeman, Mike and Annette Allizzo, Sarah Sutherland and all other friends, for all of their amazing support and love.

Special thanks to Camellia Home Health Care and Hospice.

There will be a memorial Mass on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where friends may visit one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sherry Venus Seymour Benefit Account at any Hancock Bank.

I will always remember Sherry as a very selfless and giving person.  I will truly miss seeing her at the reunion.  At our 20 year reunion we developed a bond that was very special to me.  This news saddens me.  Not ever forgotten.
