ODESSA - Betty Jean Witherspoon

November 22, 1939-February 17, 2019

Our beloved Matriarch, Betty J. Witherspoon, age 79, of Odessa, went home to join our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Odessa.

Betty was born on November 22, 1939 to Alberta Mullins Witherspoon Carnes and John Calvin Witherspoon, Jr. Betty started her work career in the early years of the Odessa Real Estate Association and became a sharp business woman owning and operating multiple retail and entertainment venues in Odessa. Betty loved to fish and travel, rode motorcycles, and had an adventurous soul. She was a skilled Homeopathist and Herbalist and was always willing to share her vast knowledge of the art. Betty was strong in her faith and a loving caregiver who loved her family and the down trodden in the community. She always strived to make even the smallest difference in someone else's life whenever she could. She was always quick with a smile and quick with warm hugs.

Betty was preceded in Death by her parents and Brother, Warren Witherspoon and her daughter, Sunday Norman Maddingly. Survivors include two Sons, Trent and Rita Norman and Von Norman of Odessa as well as Nephews Johnny and Cathy Witherspoon of Cooper, Texas, Randy and Lynette Witherspoon of Midland, Texas, and Terry and Renee Witherspoon of Wolfforth, Texas. Betty is also survived by her niece, Elizabeth Parker of Tucson, Arizona.

Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were bright spots in her life and Betty was always joyful for visits, photos and phone calls to keep in touch. Family appreciation goes out to the caring and loving staff of Madison Medical Resort and her dear friends there; she loved each and every one of you.

A private Family Memorial will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, honorariums may be made to a charity close to your heart. She would have liked that.
