   Charles Frederick Gibson III
   
   ODESSA Charles Frederick "Fred" Gibson III, 60, of Odessa, passed away
   Saturday, April 28, 2001, at a local hospital. Mr. Gibson was born
   November 11, 1939, in Texon, Texas, to C.F. "Hoot" and Louise Gibson.
   He married Judie Tripp on June 16, 1959, in Odessa.
   
   Fred was raised in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in
   1958. He attended Texas A&M University on a football scholarship and
   later graduated from UTEP with a Bachelor of Business Administration
   Degree. He returned to Odessa to work for Tripp Petroleum, where he
   worked for many years, and was presently the Director of the Small
   Business Incubator for Odessa College.
   
   Fred was an active member of First Christian Church, active member and
   former Boss of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang and a member of the Board
   of Directors of the Permian Basin International Oil Show. He was a
   member of Odessa Masonic Lodge No. 955, the Scottish Rite and the
   Odessa Shrine Club of the El Maida Temple.
   
   Fred was preceded in death by his father, C.F. "Hoot" Gibson; a
   brother, Bobby Scott; his mother and father-in-law, Earl and Viola
   Tripp; and a nephew, Lloyd C. Lane.
   
   Fred is survived by his wife, Judie Gibson of Odessa; a son, Dean
   Gibson and his wife Rhonda of Brady; a daughter, Beth Ann Kelm and her
   husband Chris of San Antonio; his mother, Louise Gibson Jones of San
   Angelo; a sister, Rhonda Cutbirth and her husband Johnny of Houston;
   four grandchildren, Sarah, Brittany, Zack and Cooper; and a nephew,
   Gary Cutbirth of Houston.
   
   Public visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m.
   to 9 p.m. Monday with the family to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7
   p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
   
   Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at
   First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. David C. Mindel officiating.
   Masonic graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens
   under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
   
   Active pallbearers will be Dean Gibson, Buddy White, Chris Pickett,
   Jim Everett, Howard Bethel, Garland Chessir, Wayne Rice and Dale
   Scott. The Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang will be honorary pallbearers.
   
   Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
