Eddie moved to Alaska to be the Alaska manager for Petroleum Engineered Distribution Co., which he worked for until 1973. In 1974, Eddie and three other partners formed Sourdough Freight Lines before construction of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline and continued the business until 1981.
He later worked in sales with Peninsula Shippers and then Northern Consolidators. Eddie retired in May 2009 after six years at Carlile Transport. He said working at Carlile was one of the most enjoyable experiences of his career.
