Bill Charles Jarman, Sr.

(b Nov 2, 1939 - - d Aug 19, 2016)

Bill Charles Jarman, Sr., 76, passed away on Friday, August 19th, 2016, in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by his loved ones. 

Bill was born in Kermit, Texas on November 2, 1939. 

He was raised in Odessa, Texas, where he attended Odessa High School and competed as a swimmer, and completed his high school years at The Stony Brook School, located in Stony Brook, New York, where he also joined the team as a swimmer and diver.

Bill further continued his education at Princeton University where he majored in Latin American History and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1962. 

He then served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years. 

Upon completion of his service, he and the family operated cattle ranches in the areas of Nuevo Leon and Coahuila, Mexico. He opened and set up international stockyards on the ports of entry along the Texas/Mexico border, including Laredo, TX, where he resided for many years, and finally in Arizona. 

After numerous years in the cattle industry, he settled in Rio Rico, AZ with his wife, Regina Irwin Jarman on a lovely home perched on the San Cayetano Mountains, overlooking the Santa Cruz River Valley. 

Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Jarman, his parents, Ira Chase Jarman, and Cora McCorkle Jarman.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Irwin Jarman, daughter Patricia Jarman Mata, (Lorenzo) Norma Lydia Jarman, (Jeff McElwee), Bill Charles Jarman, Jr. (Natalie Marie). 

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ira Chase Jarman, Walter William Woodul, Taylor Madison Macdonald, Ian Douglas Macdonald, and Dagny Katherine Jarman. He is also survived by his former wife, Lydia Zapata Jarman. 

Bill is remembered as a scholar, a cowboy, a Marine, a mentor and most importantly, an amazing husband and father. 

Bill's wishes were to be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered at the JJ Mata Ranch in Mirando City, TX at a future date.

The family wishes to express its sincerest thanks to the numerous family members and friends from all over the country that have reached out to all of us.

8-25-19: OHS classmate, Bill Jarman, Sr passed away on Friday, 8-19-2016 in Tucson, Arizona. Although Bill did not graduate with our OHS class of 1958 due to his transferring to an eastern Prep School in preparation for his enrollment at Princeton University, he did attend Odessa schools (Austin Elem, Crockett Jr. High and Odessa High School) through his 11th grade Junior year at OHS.
