Donna Mayree Beekman Holmes, age 73, passed away in San Marcos, TX at Central Texas Medical Center on Saturday, February 7, 2015.  She was born in Eunice, NM on April 23, 1941 to the late Donald Leslie and Mayree Myrtle (Cuykendall) Beekman.  She worked in retail sales and bookkeeping before retiring.

She was also preceded in death by her husband:  Wayne Dale Holmes.  She and Wayne were high school sweethearts and married in Mexico on June 10, 1959.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her daughters:  Sherry Walker and husband Arlis of Buda, TX, Pamela Dennis of Red Bluff, CA, and Dawn Fellers and husband Al of Odessa, TX; sons:  William Holmes and wife Eney of Mercedes, TX and Kenneth Holmes and wife Chrissy of Uvalde, TX; grandchildren:  Taggart Walker and wife Shana of Buda, Danielle Walker of Buda, Angela Gauthreaux of Red Bluff, Greg Dennis and wife Nicole of Tacoma, WA, Cindy Stanton and husband Mike of Odessa, Christopher Faltus of Odessa, Ethan Koennecke of Waco, Emily and Kate Holmes of Uvalde, and Victoria and Grace Holmes of Mercedes; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Donna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of San Marcos and enjoyed daily Bible studies.  She was the president of the resident’s club at San Marcos Rehabilitation and Nursing and handled all the resident complaints.  She enjoyed reading and playing card games.  Donna was impossible to beat at Scrabble.  Before her eyesight failed, she also liked to work with liquid embroidery and plastic canvas yarn crafts.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 13, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Odessa.  At 3:00 pm, she will be laid to rest at Andrews West Cemetery in Andrews, TX next to her beloved husband.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences to the family may be sent online at acreswestfuneral.com.
