ODESSA - Services for Patsy Diane Snead Mason will be held on August 30, 2021. The family and close friends will attend a graveside service at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery at 10 am. Diane went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 27, 2021. Arrangements are under the direction of Acres West Funeral Chapel. Diane was born October 30, 1940 in Bunkie, Louisiana. She was the only daughter to Curtis and Willie Snead. She was baptized at an early age and was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. 

She graduated from Odessa High School in 1959 and attended Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana. She married Ron Mason on January 4, 1977 where they combined two families to create one big beautiful family. They were married 44 amazing years. Together they raised five children and shared the love of Christ and the importance of
family. 

Diane loved being a mother and Grandmother. She was so proud of all their accomplishments and constantly bragged on them any chance she had. She had such a passion and love of our Lord. She took so much pride in growing her spiritual relationship with the Lord through daily Bible studies, and sharing that with people. She was also an amazing cook and everyone bragged about her pies, breads and Mississippi Mud Brownies. 

Diane loved crafts of all kinds! She could sew, make jewelry, knit, crochet and learned a lot by reading how to books and articles. She loved making things for her family and friends. 

She is survived by her sons: Lind (Tiffany) Bruton, William (Teri) Bruton, Chris Mason; daughters: Cynthia (Shane) Schaffner and Lisa Josey; grandchildren: Mason Bruton, Ashley Bruton, Hallie Bruton, Caleb Mason, Luke Mason, Rachel Mason, Zach (Summer) Angel, Braden Schaffner, Ambrie (Justin) Witte, Kaci (Angela) Hecker, Cameron Hancock, Kaitlyn (Jesse) Ibarra, Taylor Josey; great grandchildren: Jace Mason, Addilynn Angel, Jude Witte, Jack Witte, Jett Witte, Hadley Hecker; brother Ed (Butch) Snead, sister-in-law Jettie (Bud) Davidson, nephews and a niece.




Sadly Patsy Diane Snead Mason died only 4 days after her husband of nearly 45 years!

Ronald George Mason was born September 9, 1937 on his grandfather Cameron's farm near Pritchett in Baca County, Colorado to the late George Henry and Dorothy Mae (Cameron) Mason. He was the oldest of two children and grew up in Colorado and Kansas with his parents and sister Jettie Marcella. Ron was baptized at an early age and was a devout Christian man. 

He graduated from Kismet High School in Kismet, Kansas in 1955 and attended Anderson College and Panhandle A&M College at Goodwill, Oklahoma where he graduated with a baccalaureate degree in music. He worked toward his master's degree in music education at Wichita State. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served from 1956 to 1962 and graduated Senior Division ROTC in 1960. He married the love of his life Patsy Diane Snead Mason on January 4, 1977. They were married just shy of 45 wonderful years. They raised five children together and shared with them how valuable family truly is. 


Ron loved people. He was known for being someone you could count on to lend a helping hand, offer wisdom and give a prayer. He was active at the Northside Senior Citizen Center where he led exercise class and played a daily game of pool. Ron had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He was a kind man; gentle and patient. He walked the walk and saw the good in people. He was always in his church choir, had a beautiful tenor voice and enjoyed playing the piano. He loved home cooking and was especially found of pie.

Ron loved adventure, hunting and fishing in particular. He enjoyed socializing with others and never enjoyed being idle very long. He was an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren and was very present in their lives. He was a proud Republican, always dedicated to our nation and never took our freedom for granted. You could always spot Ron in a crowd by his bolo tie and cowboy hat.
