Karen Rudolph Moody, OHS'59

(b 12-13-1941 - - d 11-11-2019)

Karen Moody, 77, of Burleson passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019, with her family by her side.
Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Karen always gave so much to her family and asked for so little in return. She was constantly there for her family; from loving them, teaching them, or just listening to them.
Karen was born on December 13, 1941 in Hobart, Oklahoma. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1959 and received a BA in Elementary Education from Texas Woman’s University in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart, James Moody, on August 13, 1960. The two moved to Burleson in 1966 where Karen taught school for over 35 years, most of that time teaching 2nd grade at Frazier Elementary. Upon retirement, she served as Secretary for 10 years with the Burleson Area Retired School Employees’ Association (BARSEA). Karen and James have two children, Shellie Cochran of Burleson and Michael Moody of Austin.
Karen is survived by her husband of over 59 years, James Moody; daughter Shellie Cochran and husband, Glenn; son, Michael Moody and wife, Jeannie Wilson; grandsons Chase Cochran, Caden Cochran and London Wilson-Moody, sister Donna Hicks, brother Sonny Rudolph, sister-in-law Jane Rudolph, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Theresa Rudolph, and brother, Larry Rudolph.
Viewing ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home in Burleson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Burleson. The burial will follow the service at the Burleson Memorial Cemetery. The family requests that people honor Karen’s love of animals by making a donation to the Humane Society of North Texas, in lieu of sending flowers.
