Since there wasn't an obituary posted, I thought I should at least provide some information on what happened to Kenny since leaving High School. While Kenny and I were more of acquaintences during highschool and played together on the Football team, we became good friends after graduation when we both stayed home and attended OC.
Kenny attended OC for two years after graduation taking basic classes and working at Bonanza and Steak & Ale to save money to go to Baylor. After two years at home, he followed his high school sweetheart, Karla Wilson, to Baylor where she was already studying for a career teaching music. Kenny and I became roommates at Baylor and we both pledged Alpha Tau Omega in the Fall of '81. While a member of the fraternity Kenny participated in the usual intramurals and charity fundraisers but to our surprise he also became a soloist for a large University wide theatrical performance known as SING where his vocals were judged as some of the best in the bunch.
Kenny originally studied for a career in Chemistry but after a change of directions, he sought a BBA in Finance / Information Technology (a blossoming field at the time). After graduation, Kenny moved back to Odessa where he married Karla and had two great children (boy and girl). During that time he worked for a local bank, a petrochemical company and the RTC (took over failed banks and S&Ls)
While working at the RTC, Kenny and Karla decided to get divorced at which time Kenny moved to San Antonio to continue his work with the RTC. It was while he was working in San Antonio that he met a young divorcee named Lisa (Black, I think)who had two boys of her own.
Kenny and Lisa were married and shortly there after moved to Houston to work for Compaq computers. It was during this time that I saw much more of Kenny since I was in Houston as well. He and Lisa were very happy and it showed each time they were around each other. Kenny made one last career move from Compaq to American Bureau of Shipping (large multi-national corporation based in Houston) where he had the opportunity to travel to many spots abroad. It was while working at ABS that he contracted cancer. He went through radiation and chemo therapy and fought off the disease for several years before finally succombing to it.
He left behind one son, one daughter, one step-son, a wife, a sister and a mother. Along with many friends and co-workers who miss him and think of him often.
